Vince Lombardi said: “The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.”
Welcome to another edition of “Clean Your Mind Friday” and happy first of the month if you’re listening to today’s episode in real time. In today’s episode I will be talking about the importance of being grateful with what we have as we pursue that which we want. And, at the same time I’ll be breaking down this quote by the great Vince Lombardi and I’ll try to make it applicable to your cleaning business.
Let me ask you: have you expressed gratitude today?
This morning, when you woke up did you say thanks - and, I don’t mean in a religious way; although, if you did, that’s fine. But, I mean, did you realize that by waking up, the universe, god, whatever you want to call it, gave you another chance to try to be great? Now, let me ask you this: how many times have you complained about business this week? Did you get frustrated because a customer cancelled or postponed his or her service at the last minutes? Did an employee call in sick on a day that your really needed him or her? Did you get stuck in traffic and weren’t able to make it to the estimate you were looking forward to closing? The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have. Look you guys, we are business owners. Now, granted we are all at different stages, but regardless of where you find yourself and under which situation, remember to try your best with what you have! Life is about growing. And, we all start out at different levels. Some of us started from scratch, others took over the family business, still others maybe bought a small business. It is these situations that make us unique! And, the measure of who we are is our ability, our desire, our ambition to see life as it really is, to acdept our situation, and still have the courage to work with what we have in an effort to grow and become that which we dream of and set goals to become. If you hold back from trying to expand your business because you think you don’t have the necessary resources, then let me tell you something - and I don’t want to sound harsh, but this is my opinion and what I believe to be true. If you’re complaining because you feel like you don’t have what is needed to expand your business, then it is very likely that you’ll never reach your dreams and goals. I’m just giving you some tough love. You see, you have to accept reality, embrace it, be grateful for it and work with it; work intelligently and progressively toward a point where you want to be in the future. But, you know what? Complaining will get you nowhere! I know it’s hard! I know you’ll feel like you want to quit sometimes, but here is the kicker. Want to know what you have that’s a million times better than any physical resource you think you need? Your mind. Yes, your mind. Focus on what you want. Focus on what you desire. Focus on the positive of everyday. And, work. Every. Single. Day. Work with what you have towards your dreams and goals. And, if you do that, then you know what? You can call yourself great. You’ll be among those who don't complain, but act. You’ll be among the elite. The few who take action in order to become great. Many might be born with a silver spoon, but few are those who reach their dreams with their own blood, sweat, and tears. That’s it for today. I wish you an amazing weekend! And, I’ll catch you on the next episode! Before you leave, remember to follow me on my social media accounts! One more thing!
