Join me in today’s Clean Your Mind Friday episode as we go over the quote: “What you give is what you get”!
I want you to hold still for a few seconds and meditate on this phrase: What you give is what you get.
Do you believe this? I do. Let me tell you why? I believe that if we run our cleaning businesses - and, in fact, our personal lives, as well - with love and a passion for learning, then our businesses, our customers, our lives will return love and experience. Now, I want you to think for a second. I want you to place on your consumer hat and think how would you like to be treated as a consumer? With appreciation, love, and patience? Or with neglect, dislike, and impatience? I think the answer is clear. When we are consumers, when we are the customer, we prefer to be treated nicely and fairly. When this happens, then we tend to treat the businesses and services we do business with nicely and fairly, as well. (And, I believe that even if we don’t get treated as we were hoping for, it is our duty to put out some positivity in the world. But, I’ll talk about that in a bit.) Now, I want you to take off your consumer hat and put on your business owner hat, your entrepreneur hat. Now, think about how you want to treat your customers and your employees. I am a great believer that the universe has the power to deliver us what we send out into the world. Some people call it karma. I just believe it’s the nature of things. What you give is what you get. Give love. Get love. Give hate. Get hate. We’re living in a time when it’s becoming the norm to have an issue with something! Where you’re not normal if you don’t have a problem with an issue out in the world. I mean, just the other day I read this post from someone in a house cleaning group in Facebook who was furious because she didn’t get a tip from a customer. That’s a whole other issue I can talk about on another episode, but here’s my point. Look, you get what you give, but don’t expect anything in return. (Except, obviously your paycheck!) The minute you get into the mindset that the universe will deliver what you’re giving it, you’ll start being more at peace with yourself and with others. You’ll start treating your customers and employees with more care. You’ll start loving your relatives more profoundly. Now, as I mentioned earlier, what happens when we lead our lives with this mentality and still there are others who treat us unfairly or poorly. What can we do, you guys? We live in a world of over 7 and a half billion people. What can we do? I’ll tell you what we don't do. We don’t react the same way. If someone treats you poorly - whether a customer, a bank teller, whoever, o even a relative - don’t give negativity back. Why? Well, because you’ll create a cycle that will eventually give you something negative again in the future. I know it can be hard sometimes, you guys. But, the best thing to do when something like this happens; when someone treats us unfairly is to walk away and mentally wish them only the best. Who knows the reason why they were treating us unfairly, but you know what, the reason doesn’t matter - maybe they were having a bad day, maybe they are going through a divorce, maybe it’s something medical with one of their relatives - it doesn’t matter. All I can say when something like this happens is: give what you want to get back. Whether it’s with your house cleaning business, with your friends and acquaintances, or with family. Or, even with life, the universe, god, whatever you want to call it, remember: What you give is what you get. Let’s start putting some positivity out in the world, you guys. I believe that in this world of more than 7 billion people, we can start the change by giving that which we want to get. Let’s start giving appreciation, love, and patience. Let’s begin making a difference. It all starts with us. Well, that’s it for today. I wish you an amazing weekend! And, I’ll catch you on the next episode!
