American comedian and actor Milton Berle said: “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.”
Do you find yourself lacking opportunities as of late with your cleaning business? Well, join me in today’s Clean Your Mind Friday episode as I break down this quote and try to inspire you so you can start implementing this quote in your business!
Do you believe in luck? I don’t. Well, actually, I believe that we can create luck. We can create it by being prepared for when an opportunity shows at our doorstep. But, luck, in the concept that many view it? No.
Anything considered “luck” by everyone else, is backed by years of hard work and determination by the “lucky person.” In fact, there’s nothing more annoying than when I hear or read people commenting on a successful individual’s post that luck had to do with their success. Only the “successful person” knows how much hard work and determination it took to get him to the point that everyone else considers him “lucky”. With that being said about luck. What about opportunity? Do you think opportunity can be created? Do you think every successful person out there was filled with opportunities every single day and that’s why he was able to eventually become successful? I, again, don’t think this was or is the case. I believe that every successful person out there had the courage, the passion, to create his or her opportunities. Or, as Milton Berle said to “build a door.” A door to welcome opportunities to knock on it. If you’re finding that you’ve had no opportunities lately with your cleaning business - I want you to reconsider. Well, first of all I want you to know clearly where you want those opportunities to take you. I always say that in order to get somewhere you have to know where that somewhere is. Now, this might sound foolish or nonsensical, but many times in life we find ourselves not getting to where we want to get simply because we really don’t know where we want to be in the future. You want opportunities to start knocking on your door? Start getting clear on what you want those opportunities to deliver you! Start getting clear with where you want those opportunities to take you. Want more customers but are feeling down and out about not getting inquiries? Well, I don’t know about you, but every time I leave my house I see everyone, literally, everyone on the street as a potential customer. Not getting inquiries? Next time you’re at the grocery store start a conversation with the person in front of you and tell them about your service. You just created a door where opportunity can knock. Next time you finish cleaning a customer’s home tell them that you’re currently looking at increasing your customer database and if he or she knows of anyone who’s looking for a cleaning service, you’d appreciate it if he or she keeps you in mind. Another door created! Opportunity is everywhere, you guys! And, if you don’t see it. Create it! “Build a door!” This podcast is your opportunity to start living the life you want to live with your cleaning business! Creating opportunities requires you to shift your mindset and start viewing the world as a place where you can create your opportunities. Just like create your “luck”.
