Colin Powell said: “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.”

Join me as we break down this quote and apply it's lesson to our cleaning businesses!
Are there secrets to success?  Is there a SECRET that will make your house cleaning business successful quicker?  I don’t think so.  You achieve success, or rather, you become a successful person through hard work, through, planning, and most importantly by not giving up when difficulty arrives.

But, let’s break down this quote:  “There are NO secrets to success.”  I think all of us can ascertain that statement.

“It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.”

Preparation.  Each and every day you need to be prepared with open arms to either receive an opportunity or face any obstacle.  But, it starts with preparation.  How far out do you plan, do you prepare, your days?  Your weeks?  Your Months?  Your Years?  Are you prepared if someone came to you and offered you MORE accounts?  Here, let me put it this way: what if a real estate agent contacted you and asked if you had time and availability to clean 30 homes, 50 homes, 100 homes?  Are you prepared for something like that?  Do you have systems in place to confidently and securely say: “Yes!  I’ll do it!”?

You see, I believe that preparation is key.  And, that is why I love this quote.

But, you know what?  It’s not just preparation in your business.  Are you prepared to enjoy your family?  Are you prepared for retirement?  Are you prepared for life?

Preparation means planning.  Start planning, you guys.  Start preparing not only to face obstacles, but also to enjoy life!  Prepare for when you get 100 customers, prepare for when you reach a million dollars in revenue, prepare for when your kids go off to college, prepare for your 50th wedding anniversary, prepare for life!

Hard work.  Wow, there’s very little I can say here because I am 100% sure that if you’re listening to this, you know hard work.  I have so much respect for every single one of you who is in the house cleaning business, because I know that this type of business requires hard work.  So, it would be wrong for me to try to tell you about hard work.

All, I can say is: keep up the hard work, but also, focus on developing your business, on working hard on your business, on your systems, so that in the future you can simply enjoy managing your business.

Remember, don’t just work in your business, work on your business, as well!  And, what I mean with that is make it a goal to develop your business into a self-sustaining machine - a machines that all you have to do is insert the key and turn it on.

“Learning from failure.”  How true is this?  And, if you’re a regular listener to the podcast, you know this the philosophy I subscribe to.  There are no failures, there are only lessons.
True failure comes when you accept a lesson as such; but, if you see that lesson as  learning experience, rather than a failed attempt, then you’ll be well on your way to becoming a successful person.  Better yet, the moment you see an obstacle, a roadblock, a setback as a learning experience, that’s the moment you become successful.

Let’s begin to look at “failures” as learning experiences, you guys.  Let us destroy our fears of failure by staring them straight in the eye and accepting the challenges life presents us.  Let’s not be afraid to dream big with our cleaning businesses.

Well, that’s it for today.  I wish you an AMAZING weekend!  I wish you ALL the best!
