Let me tell you how I use blogging to try to reach a wider audience on Facebook
I recently ran a poll on my Instagram account...
It turns out a vast majority of the house cleaning business owners who follow me do NOT blog.
What's a blog?
A blog is a type of article that an individual or company writes in order to inform its readers of valuable and relevant information. A blog is many times also referred to as a journal written on a website.
What I write about...
So, as many of you know I am still partially involved in my family's cleaning business - my main role is customer service, customer acquisition, public relations, and most importantly business development. With that being said, I blog mostly about updates to our business' procedures and policies, cleaning tips, and share our company's stories - which I'm then able to re-purpose into social media marketing and advertising.
So, what's the strategy?
Alright, so below I will share with you the specific steps I use to reach a wider audience on Facebook using blog posts related to house cleaning.
Step 1: Write a blog
So, obviously in order to implement this strategy you need to write a blog post on your website. In order to do so I suggest you create a section on your website and title it "Blog" (if you don't have one yet). In it you will gradually build your blog posts. It'll kind of look like my "Podcast" tab up on my website bar (look up there, between the "About Me" tab and the "Contact" tab).
Remember, every journey begins with the first step. So, don't be discouraged. Start with a simple blog post; maybe one where you give tips on how to keep a home clean until your next visit. Don't over complicate it.

Step 2: Publish your blog post
Once you have your blog post written, you can publish it immediately or schedule it for another date. But, hey, why not publish it right away?
Step 3: Share your blog post link on your Facebook page
So, I'm assuming your cleaning business has a Facebook business page. Once you click "publish" on your blog post draft and it's out in the world, then you share the link on your Facebook page. You can include a brief description of what your the blog post is about - or you can just write the first couple of sentences so your Facebook followers know what it's about. (Try to make it something that will grab your customers/followers' attention, though. It might be something like "Our Recommendation For Keeping Your Home Clean Until Our Next Visit!")
Step 4: Boost your Facebook post
Okay, so I'm going off track a bit here, but bare with me. As many of you know, I always try my best to offer you strategies, tips and tactics that will not cost you anything. But, if you want to increase your chances of more people knowing about your business, then I strongly recommend this strategy. It's a strategy that we've been using for the past couple of years and it has not only allowed us to build brand, but also get more inquiries.
Step 4.1: Choose your audience
When you're in the "Boost" process in Facebook, you will have the option of choosing your target audience. In other words, this is where you tell Facebook, "show my post to these people." Well, here I recommend you choose "People who like your page and their friends."
Why? Well, because I'm assuming that your followers - or some of them - are your customers and you want to make sure that not only your customers see your blog post, but also their Facebook friends. This, again, helps build brand but also awareness!

Step 4.2: How much?
How much should you invest in this strategy? Don't worry you don't need to invest hundreds and hundreds of dollars. (Although, if you want to, you can!)
I'd say start off with $10 and spread it over a 7 day period. Experiment and check your analytics not just on your website, but in Facebook, as well.

Bonus tip
Always end your blog post with a "Contact Us" button for your current customers and for those readers who are not yet customers. Remember, since you're boosting your Facebook post, it's very likely that you're going to get people who are not your customers (yet) reading your blog post.
I'd recommend something like: "If you're still not a customer and you want to find out how our cleaning service can help you out, then click here"
